PWU Manila Nursing Congress: February 2009

As part of the PWU 90th Celebration, the PWU School of Nursing sponsored the Nursing Congress 2009. The theme was “Nursing in the 21st Century: Sustaining Quality and  Competitiveness in the Globalized World”. It was held at the Conrado Benitez  Hall and was attended by hundreds of alumni, facultly members and guests from different schools, colleges and hospitals in Manila. Over all chair was Ms. Constancia P. Pitpitan, Dean Emeritus, PWU School of Nursing and was co chaired by Dr. Dolores R. Carrion. To open the Congress, a Eucharistic Mass was celebrated by the University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Artemio P. Fabros.  The formal event followed with welcome remarks by Dr. Dolores Lasan, inspirational message by President Amelou B. Reyes.  The keynote speaker was Hon. Dr. Amelia B. Rosales, Member of the Board of Nursing, PRC.  Three alumni spoke on different current topics in the afternoon session: Arceli Gagajena on Nursing Informatics, Josefina I. Alejandro on Nursing Care of the Critically Ill Patients and Zita Sumagaysay on Nursing Leadership and Management.  All speakers were awarded a plaque of appreciation.
